The brief
A display typeface drawn from Renaissance paintings, made to show how far a letter can carry an image and still read as type.
What was made
Each capital starts as a fragment of a painting, such as a hand, a wreath or a fall of hair. The fragment is reduced to a contour and fitted to a letter skeleton. Twelve of 39 capitals are drawn, tested on posters, book covers and a wine label.
